KNIGHT OF THE MONTH

FAMILY OF THE MONTH

October

This Knight is very active in parish ministry as well as leading up numerous Council projects. In the last 3-4 months he has headed up the move out from the old Council Hall. This included the sale of marketable items, including a commercial kitchen, bingo equipment and china service for 150! And what he couldn't he sell, he donated and finally with what couldn't be sold or donated he disposed of in an environmentally sound way. For all of this our Knight of the Month is Ray Michaud

October

For all he has done in he last 24 months to ensure the sale of the hall to the Burlington International Airport went through. This meant dealing with a myriad of municipal, federal and regional entities. From dealing with airport, lawyers, accountants and constant questions from Council member Brothers, who while weren't nagging were persistent in their questions. Our Family of the Month is Brad and Lynda Chennette!

September

Hosting the annual Right to Life Dinner was our big event this month. The previous volunteer executive chef agreed to the job again this year. It involved planning, purchasing and cooking a banquet dinner for over 200 RTL supporters. For this important Diocesan fund raiser, our Knight of the Month is Rick Gravelin.

September

Our Family of the Month has had a eventful Month. He was doing plumbing work in the men's room in the SJV basement. He also lent a hand in moving our KOC marker stone into its winter position. He and his wife then hosted a Vietnamese Seminarian for a month. And if that wasn't enough both he and his wife worked a double at the Right to Life Dinner. Family of the Month is Jay and Alice Benson.

August

We have Two Knights who have earned the title for Knight of the Month. They both have put in a lot of time in making our Council web site the best in the state. This month our Knights of the Month are Jim Girouard Jr and Gerry Malavenda.

August

This month our Family of the month are returning snow birds. They are being recognized for the efforts they put in helping at the Vermont Air Guard Family Weekend. Although Al says he recovering from a stroke he kept up a wicked fast pace as usual. This month our Family of the Month is Al and Mary Dunbar.

July

We had a lot of possibilities this month but because he spent so much time working on our painting and getting some stall walls painted, for free, our Knight of the Month is Don Sutton.

July

This month our Family of the Month also put in a lot of time on our painting job. This member brought his daughter - Ellen in for a day of painting (she has helped before). We appreciate all they do for our council and our church. Our Family of the Month - the Tom Gravelin Family.

Knight of the Year

This year Bob Wilkens won the Knight of the Year for his tireless efforts in manning the many area bingos as well as attending and working the many Council events.

Family of the Year

The winner of the family of the year was Charter member Frank and Mary Cross. Though homebound, Frank and Mary go the distance in living the Knightly life. From their daily pious reverence, their making and distributing of their Rosaries to those in need and even to our sister parish in Haiti. The Crosses are our Family of the Year.

Besides playing a mean guitar, our Knight of the Month is an officer, works hard for the Church and did the big job of being Chairman of this year's Super Bingo, which was a smoothly run and hugely successful event. This couple is very active in the parish. Some say without them a lot of things wouldn't get done. They volunteered to help on the Super Bingo and were there Saturday for set up and on Sunday for tear down. Mid way through the Super Bingo they went and set up for the after Super Bingo meal. Additionally they stayed with the Grand Knight and his wife to do clean up and wash dishes. For April, The Family of the Month is - Keith & Lucy Marston.

March

Our Knight of the Month is always working hard for us. Whether it's busting concrete, moving shrubbery or making lots of dump runs trying to empty our hall. He even sold many items in the hall - some of which weren't even ours! He also helped hang plaques on the wall here in church. Our Knight of the MONTH - Jay Benson.

Our Knight of the Month works ceaselessly in promoting the Council. He is always taking pictures to spread our Council's name around. He submits our good works to Columbia Magazine, the State News Letter and the local media outlets. He helps in our recruiting efforts and documents all of our good works and acts of charity. He once asked me, what is worth a 1,000 words? The correct answer, a picture. Our Knight of the MONTH - Gerry Malavenda.

January

This couple has been very dedicated to our Council and events for years. They can be seen working for the church and attending Blue Army Events. This month we honor them for all these acts and also for their legacy. Their son, who belongs to and is very active in a neighboring parish, honored his parents by joining the Knights through Council # 7525, the Council that his father is a charter member of. Our Family of the Month is Frank and Camille Myers!

December

Our Knight of the Month was the first to volunteer to assist the Grand Knight in the painting and renovations to the new Council office in St. John Vianney. This after just being discharged from the University of Vermont Medical Center from a nagging ailment. He also continues to operate the weekly bingo at the Winooski Seniors Center - he loves to serve so much. He is a great example of a dedicated Knight. For December our Knight of the Month is Don Sutton.

December

This couple has contacted our Grand Knight to keep abreast on issues affecting the Knights, He was a Charter Member and both he and his wife exhibit a great belief and conviction in our faith. He makes Rosaries and distributes them free of charge to those in need of Mary's help. Also, he has sent a number of these hand-made Rosaries to members of our military deployed in active war zones. Finally this couple has donated a display set of these personally crafted Rosaries to the Council. This Rosary is now on permanent display in the new Council office at St. John Vianney. Our Family of the Month Francis and Mary Cross!
